12 Tantui of Shaolin Chi Mantis and Jing Mo Federation.

Learn the 12 Tantui of Bruce Lee. He refers to them as, "Tom Toy," in his autobiography, Dao of Jeet Kune Do.

These 12 Step Tantui are required of all students and athletes of the Chinese Beijing Wushu Team, as passed down through the Chinese Jing Mo Association. See the Jet Li movie, "Fearless," for the story of the founding of the Jing Mo Association.

"Tantui" translates to, "Springy Legs." This is because the purpose of the 12 Tantui is to develop the incredible power of the Kung Fu artist as they learn to put their entire body behind the punches and kicks. Bruce Lee refered to this as, "the one inch punch," because within that one inch he would put his entire body's force.

The 12 Tantui are beneficial to everyone, because they also teach students how to use their bodies more efficiently in whatever endeavors or work or sports you are performing.

In 2009, Buddha Kung Fu, in assocation with Shaolin Chi Mantis, launched the 12 Step 12 Week Kung Fu Bootcamp, to attract the busy working Americans who have difficulty scheduling one night a week to learn Kung Fu.

Qigong, breathing exercises, qi energy flow... had all been developing for hundreds of years before the Daoists started construction of their Wudang Temple.

"Whether you call it Buddhist Breathing or Daoist Qigong," explains Buddha Zhen, "It is all about mastering the energy already flowing within you. First, I make you aware of it. Second, I show you how to focus on it. Third, I teach students how to enhance it. However, in the fourth stage when you can move and manipulate your energy -- that's where the magic and the healing come into play."

Although you may need to be an Intermediate Level or Advanced Tai Chi practitioner to make use of many of these techniques, follow along and do your best. Beginners allowed.

Traditional Chen Taijiquan includes staff, spear and sword.

"Wood is my favorite Tai Chi weapon," explains Buddha Zhen. "Metal sucks my energy out -- with the exception of aluminum, but wood is easier to control or use while manifesting qi ( "chi"), energy."

"When I broke my arm last year, I had planned to build it back up with my double broadswords, (shuang dao, or cern do). But it was my staff class that rebuilt my shoulder. It somehow has caught up and surpassed my left arm in strength again."

"I enjoy doing qigong when I'm with my staffs, spear, or wooden swords. Let me show you some of my qi energy discoveries."

Victory over a taller and stronger opponent.

When Yang Chen Fu stole the Chen Style Taijiquan, he proved it's value by beating up every prize fighter in his village.

Two of my Taijiquan Masters made me promise, as one said, "Don't turn this into yoga Tai Chi."

That was twenty five years ago and Buddha Zhen has kept his promise by expanding the Tai Chi instruction to include 57 required Qin Na techniques and that each student must demonstrate three self-defense moves for each of the sixteen Tai Chi sections.

Several of Buddha Zhen's students have claimed that Tai Chi moves saved their lives in dangerous confrontations.
